Welcome!

Family There is scientific evidence strongly suggesting that a significant proportion of cleft lip and palate anomalies is preventable.

If you are planning to have children and you have a family member with a cleft, please contact us to find out more about the prevention of cleft anomalies. We would like to work with you! OR if you are currently a mother of a child with cleft, and you are interested in preventing the development of clefts in your other children, we would like to work with you too!

We ask you to help us further our research studies by filling out a short questionnaire, and in return we will send you an informational packet that will explain the causes of cleft lip and palate and the prevention studies of such birth defects.

Baby Who is at risk?
Our Program helps individuals in whom a recurrence of clefts may be preventable. Applying all available preventive measures, including periconceptional supplementation of Folic Acid and Multivitamins, will decrease recurrence of clefts.

What do we do?
We encourage the general public, especially young people, to develop healthy lifestyles. We teach about the normal developmental needs of a human being in utero, and we provide information on Folic Acid and other vitamin supplements.

What are we finding out?
Results of ongoing research studies contribute to the knowledge of etiology and pathogenesis of orofacial clefts and craniofacial anomalies. This helps us to understand the key etiological principals which are related to prevention of clefts.
